Presidential Events Assistant
About
In June 2025, I was promoted to the interim role of Presidential Events Assistant at the Office of the President, Cal Poly. This transition marked a meaningful step in my professional development, expanding my role from supporting early-stage planning to making key creative and logistical decisions for high-profile university events. Where I once contributed research and design concepts, I now take ownership of final selections, curating linens, floral arrangements, and dinnerware to craft cohesive, intentional event experiences that reflect the standards and tone of the President’s Office.
In this position, I have taken the lead on communication logistics and guest coordination for several notable events. For the Annual Service Awards, I personally managed outreach to honorees with 30 or more years of service, ensuring every detail felt personalized and thoughtful. Ahead of Champions Tour 2025, I coordinated outreach to California Senate and Assembly delegates, arranging private meetings for over twenty Cal Poly students. This work required clear communication, professionalism, and seamless coordination with multiple government offices.
When Cal Poly announced its merger with Cal Maritime, I contributed to early-stage brand integration by creating design sketchbooks to explore how the two institutions’ visual identities could come together cohesively. I also supported the planning and execution of multiple Presidential Commencement Receptions across all six colleges, ensuring VIP students and their guests were celebrated with the excellence and formality these events call for.
Between this role and my previous position as an Events Assistant, I have contributed to the planning and execution of over 100 events, ranging from intimate faculty receptions to large-scale ceremonies and donor gatherings. Each experience has challenged me to think creatively, lead with clarity, and adapt quickly. These experiences have not only strengthened my skills as an event professional, but also helped me grow as a communicator, collaborator, and leader.
